Why this Works

Most in ground swimming pools now are not fully winterized and left protected by a bi metallic frost thermostat. These frost thermostats have been used as frost thermostats for swimming pools for many years. The problem is that these thermostats have a wide differential hysterics; the difference between switch on and off temperatures. This can very expensive with the increase in electricity prices.

Many pool pumps are 1,1KW, that could be over Ł2.00 each day or more depending on pump size.

This means 2 problems:

1 Old style frost thermostats are often left set much higher than needed to be sure they switch on before a frost develops and you have to wait very long times for them to switch off.

2 With the lack of accuracy often pumps are left running for days. With all this unnecessary ON time you are wasting many kilowatts every frosty week.

They are wired in parallel to the time switch which should control a motor starter/contactor
They can be fitted in new Pool Control Panels or retrospectively fitted by an electrician on most existing Pools
